Now back to those strange words. ARTHRITIS is the medical term for the disease of the joint and this can involve one or more parts of the joint structure explained above. So, Tendon involvement is Tendinitis, Bursa involvement is Bursitis, and so on. A small percentage of ARTHRITIS is caused by Inflammatory diseases and can affect people of any age group. Examples are Rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis arthritis. 

However, majority of arthritis is what we call OSTEOARTHRITIS. Our joints like other body parts change as we age, and this causes pain. In the beginning, pain is on and off and not very bad but it becomes more constant and more severe and debilitating as we get older. The most common areas people get arthritis are KNEES, HIPS, LOWER BACK, SHOULDERS, NECK, ELBOWS, and HANDS.
